V-time definition
V-time or voluntary reduced worktime refers to a voluntary work arrangement in which employee works fewer hours, with corresponding salary and benefits reduction. This type of arrangement is mutually-agreed-upon between the employee and the company and its details, like duration and reduction in salary, are based upfront.
Compared to flexible working hours, V-time, understandably, results in less work being done, whereas flexible working hours dictate that the same amount of work will always be done, but the work schedule is subject to change.
It occurs when one's life circumstances change in a way that requires more personal time and reverts back to normal once the circumstances have been resolved.
